While trying to conjure up inspiring content to post, I always go to the format of formal and educating as my business is professional and linked to skills development.
I remind myself that my creative writing ability should be explored as I am, after all also my own coach and mentor. Many aspects of my vocation and life experience even inspire me at times. I say this with a quirky smile.
Something that keeps me placing one foot in front of the other is being self-aware of everything I have, not materialistically but in every aspect. Love, support, grace, forgiveness, luck, health, appreciation, friendship, family and trust. Each one placed in different contexts in my daily space.
When starting out on your own, there are so many dynamics to consider and of course what brought you there. The only way I can conquer the negatives and the doubt is to be aware of everything good in my life and verbally or internally express and hold the sentiment of gratitude.
Gratitude has so many positives. It improves physical and mental health and also reduces stress and supports positive pathways in our brain. This enables us to build meaningful relationships.
Being grateful however doesn’t mean we must be happy all the time and ignore the struggles and obstacles but to remember despite it all there is always something to be grateful for.
The ways I try and focus on gratitude is to be present in every situation and moment I find myself in. Recognise the person, place, encounter or event and identify something good. Be in a reflective space and show appreciation and be thankful for whatever the criteria my present. Every situation should make you feel something if you are tuned in to that moment. Proud. Happy. Confident. Excitement.
Find ways to express how you feel about it and it is important to either acknowledge that feeling with gratitude to yourself or to the situation or person that has resulted in your insight to feel or express gratitude. Remember, gratitude is a powerful attitude that can transform life and relationships.
I cover this in my individual coaching sessions and it can be life changing. Gratitude turns what you have into enough.
“Gratitude is the healthiest of all human emotions. The more you express gratitude for what you have, the more likely you will have even more to express gratitude for.” – Zig Zigl
